EN 12453 has been revised to detect the person - who is in the most awkward place of the sliding gate - before he gets to dangerous places.

The highly durable and water-resistant 120 mm x 120 mm x 500 mm C-test piece can be used to test the possibility of entrainment and possible crushing and shearing on the fixed parts of the gate or building in horizontally moving gates according to EN 12453:2017.

For testing, the test piece is attached to the moving gate leaf in the most unfavorable position and detected by the control system before reaching the danger point by safety devices such as safety contact strips or overload detection.

Otherwise, the guide gantry and the safety contact strips must be set closer together or the safety contact strips must be positioned closer to the gate wing to enable detection of the test piece. In addition, the distances between the filling bars must not be greater than 120 mm.
